Landscape Design

Concept to Completion

At Eco Harmony, we start out by hearing from you, the homeowner. We listen to your vision, get to know your goals, your lifestyle, your budget, your dream, and we work to make it all a reality. Our design staff is always aspiring to connect our clients with the feeling of nature. Through our company’s passion for the natural world, we are constantly inspired to create a balance between function and art. Our design staff is here to listen to your vision and provide you with an installation that meets your budget and exceeds your expectations. Through the use of sustainable ideas and low maintenance solutions we want you to be able to enjoy your investment, spend more time relaxing with friends and family, and enjoy your new outdoor living space.

What to Expect when working with us

The first step to starting a landscaping project is the initial call. We will set up a free appointment to meet with you and talk about what you would like to see in your yard. The next step is committing to the design service and completing our design questionnaire. The questionnaire is developed so we can best be of service to you. It will help us get to know you, your lifestyle, home environment, and the general age-range of all residents. It helps paint a picture of your interests, your color preferences, your hardscaping needs, and if there are any plants that you absolutely love and are a must-have for your home. All questions are valuable as we begin the design process. “How many people would you want to entertain on your new patio?” helps us decide size requirements. Or for example, as we pick plants to thrive and complement your lifestyle, we take into consideration your answers to questions like “Do you travel much?” to help us get a feel for watering requirements. We want to make sure you have the best success for your new outdoor living space which has living, breathing components.

Design

Designs are a helpful tool not just for us during our installs but also for the homeowner. They are created to help you visualize the final design and layout. Like anything in life and homeownership, making your dreams a reality takes a commitment. In cases where your budget might restrict your vision, we carefully work with you to construct a treasure map to follow each year to work towards making the full concept a reality. During the design process, we maximize each design and minimize non-usable space so you are investing in what really matters. We do this so you are not spending valuable resources on square footage that will never be enjoyed.

To carry out the design process whether a plat survey is provided or not we will still come out to your home to take measurements, if needed, and explore ideas such as borrowed views to make the most of your natural setting. Our designers then get to work tying in their vast knowledge of plants and creativity to your natural setting, home-style, and vision.

Then we present the design to you. We are here to educate you on the pros and cons as well as to help you decide on the myriad of overwhelming decisions from edging to stone choice to plantings. We do our best to make sure you feel well educated and comfortable with each choice - providing you with the most flexibility and use of your space.

What does a completed design mean to us?

To us it means, a happy homeowner wanting to take a design to the estimate phase. Our goal is to have a working relationship and sound design which in turn creates a logical path to us implementing the design. Our finished detailed designs, done to scale, will show any hardscaping, the placement of plants, and a plant key containing scientific names, common names, and quantities. The common names are helpful to you as the homeowner when sharing the names of your favorites with family and friends. The scientific names are specific identifiers that help us know what plant to order to make sure it is hearty for Wisconsin winters and the correct specific species of plant.

Experienced Designers

Our designers have over 15 years of design experience as well as degrees in Horticulture with an emphasis in Landscape Design Build. All designers have formal training and take continuing education courses. Our design team has an intimate knowledge of Wisconsin’s biodiverse ecosystem which allows us to make sure you are confident in the choice of plants as well as provide you with a unique setting to create memories for your family for years to come. We take into consideration the context of your setting, pay attention to details, and keep in mind basic human behavior which all comes together in an intuitive and beautiful living space. We are constantly looking for inspiration be it nature, films, and daily life that is all integrated into our design approach. Whether in an urban or rural setting we carefully weave together flora and fauna and support local pollinators. Within the context of landscape design, it is all about the setting of your home. The plants, rocks, and other points of interest around your yard are all a supporting cast carefully placed to beautify your property and accentuate your home.
